NTSE Full Form

NTSE having full form as National Talent Search Examination is a national-level test conducted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) with the purpose of granting scholarships to eligible students in class ten.

The candidate must have passed the class IX examination with a minimum of 60%. Students who have finished or are about to complete the class X test and are registered for Open Distance Learning (ODL) can take the NTSE exam.

History

  • The NTSE has a lengthy history. In 1963, the scheme was launched as the National Science Talent Search Scheme.
  • Beginning in 1976 The exam format included two tests: the ability test (MAT) and the Scholastic test (SAT). The final results of students to be rewarded were based on the scores of both tests and the interview.
  • NTSE test for class 8th was held in 2007, and it consists of 90 questions from MAT and SAT, each.
  • The NTSE test is now only open to students in the tenth grade.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The exam is mainly divided into two sections: the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT).

MAT: The questions in this section are intended to assess the ability to think, reasoning power, evaluate, visualize in space, and so on. Questions can be asked on topics such as series, analogies, pattern perception, classifications, coding-decoding, problem-solving, hidden figures, block assembly, and so on.

SAT: This section’s questions are further subdivided into Science, Mathematics, and Social Sciences

  • Question paper is available in total of 13 languages.
  • Each section has 100 questions.
  • One needs to answer 200 multiple choice questions in 4 hours.
  • Candidates will be awarded +1 for a correct response. There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
