The full form of NEET is the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test. This is a qualifying medical entrance exam for those students who desire to study any graduation in fields like MBBS, BDS courses. All people who are in class 12 or cleared 12th are eligible to appear for the NEET.

States and prestigious medical colleges conducted their entrance tests till 2013.
NEET was first proposed to take place onwards 2012. Due to some reasons, the test was held for the first time by the government of India on 5 May 2013 across India for students seeking admission for medicine.
NEET was declared illegal and unconstitutional by the Supreme Court of India in 2013 after 115 petitions were filed.
However, it was restored on 11 April 2016, as the supreme court recalled the earlier verdict. The Central Government and the Medical Council of India (MCI) were allowed to implement the standard entrance test until the court decided afresh on its validity.
Exam Format & Syllabus
- The NEET examination focuses on the following subjects: Physics, Biology, Zoology, and Chemistry.
- Each subject has 45 questions.
- One need to answer 180 multiple choice question(MCQs) in 3 hours.
- Every correct answer is rewarded with 4 marks, and for a wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted.
- NEET (UG) syllabus consists of the core concepts of Physics, Chemistry and Biology taught in classes 11 and 12.
