Which tissue makes up the husk of coconut?
Sclerenchyma tissue makes up the husk of the coconut.
Sclerenchyma is actually a protective or supporting tissue in plants composed of thick-walled cells which are often lignified (rigid or woody). This tissue generally contains dead cells.
This is the same tissue that makes up the outer protective covering of fruits and nuts.
This tissue also gives plants their mechanical strength due to which it is called plants supporting tissue as well.
