What is the role of acid in our stomach?
The role of acid in our stomach is to facilitate protein digestion by pepsins and to kill bacteria.
Explanation:
The human stomach contains hydrochloric acid which is secreted by Oxyntic cells. This acid makes the stomach acidic which is essential for the pepsins to get activated and digest proteins. The acid also kills bacteria which might enter the stomach with food.
These two are the main things done by the acid in our stomach.
