The capital of the Maurya dynasty was Pataliputra, also known as present-day Patna in the Indian state of Bihar.

Pataliputra was one of the largest and most important cities in ancient India, serving as a political and economic centre during the Maurya period. It was also the seat of power for other dynasties that followed the Mauryas, including the Gupta and the Pala.
